Annual School Community Events

For a relatively small school LRNS is a busy place! The Parent Association plays an important role in fostering and promoting a unique community spirit among the school's families and staff. We organise a number of annual events which helps to promote this community spirit.

September: Sports day

Sports day takes place in mid-September in the Phoenix Park. Games are run by the PA and families attend for the games, but also to enjoy a social afternoon and informal picnic.

October: Halloween Disco

We organise a Halloween disco in the school hall on the day of the October mid-term holidays. All of the children attend in fancy dress and there are lots of prizes to be won for best costumes!

November: Wine tasting

November brings the French wine tasting which is a relaxed social evening for school families and friends. The wine tasting is organised by school parents Alain Delhomme and Fionnuala Kennedy of http://www.frenchwines.ie Alain chooses 6 wines to taste, three red and three white. He also provides some delicious charcuterie and cheeses - French of course!

February: Pub quiz

There is a breather until February when the annual Pub quiz takes place in Hedigan's Brian Boru.

This event is a fundraiser - you are encouraged to bring friends and sell tickets but it is mainly a fun night. It's also a chance to get to know people you might only pass at the school gate.

April: Spring Fair

The Spring Fair is the event that adults and children look forward to the most. It is the school's main fundraising event and makes a substantial contribution to the school's coffers.

The energy and commitment of the PA and wider parent body, the children and staff is an example of how LRNS can work so well.

June: New Parent Information Evening and Coffee Morning

The PA presents at the New Parent Information Evening for incoming Junior Infant parents. A coffee morning get together is facilitated in mid-June for parents while the "new student" gets acquainted with their new classroom for the following September.
