For a relatively small school LRNS is a busy place! The Parent Association plays an important role in fostering and promoting a unique community spirit among the school's families and staff. We organise a number of annual events which helps to promote this community spirit.
Sports day takes place in mid-September. Games are run by the PA and families attend for the games, but also to enjoy a social afternoon and informal picnic.
We organise a Halloween disco in the school hall on the day of the October mid-term holidays. All of the children attend in fancy dress and there are lots of prizes to be won for best costumes!
The annual Pub quiz takes place in Hedigan's Brian Boru.
This event is a fundraiser - you are encouraged to bring friends and sell tickets but it is mainly a fun night. It's also a chance to get to know people you might only pass at the school gate.
The Spring Fair is the event that adults and children look forward to the most. It is the school's main fundraising event and makes a substantial contribution to the school's coffers.
The energy and commitment of the PA and wider parent body, the children and staff is an example of how LRNS can work so well.
The Parents Association organises a social wine tasting event for LRNS parents past and present in May. Roger at Pinto Wines (https://pintowines.ie/) hosts the evening, which is a relaxed social event. Roger selects 6 wines to taste and provides some delicious charcuterie and cheeses.
The PA presents at the New Parent Information Evening for incoming Junior Infant parents. A coffee morning get together is facilitated in mid-June for parents while the "new student" gets acquainted with their new classroom for the following September.
